If the our society takes every opportunity to makes humans superfluous, then we need take every opportunity to make it redundant. Lifting a finger to maintain the status quo is like a Turkey making gravy at thanksgiving dinner
As a Recording Artist, the music industry is preparing for some what of a shift that is similar. I think people place too much focus on the production(but I think that this is because everyone knows that if record labels can cut out the supply chain and give you AI for 100% profit, they would). AI can’t predict where trends in sound will come from and how it will shift audiences. But Record Labels CAN own your likeness “in perpetuity throughout the known universe” which means potentially replicating your entire ethos as they see fit through AI. Ownership is obviously one way to combat the change of the tide and but community is the other. The music industry does not have a union but obviously a collective voice has leverage in such a conversation. I don’t know if models have an actual union but it seems as one of the necessary fronts going forward.
Yes.. I would really like this to be true. However, modeling has already been on the path to automation for a while. For many e-commerce websites, the models face isn’t shown, just have of it. It’s called unrecognizable e-commerce. It allows brands to pay models less. This type of modeling has soared over the last few years without the public ever pushing back. More over, modeling is largely old forms of media and publishing which have their own disruptive dynamics. Finally, it assumes fashion shows will still be a part of the future. Crucially, the show dynamics have changed a lot over the last few years. With fashion week getting far less coverage in the news and far fewer attendees. A lot is changing. My hope is that what makes us human always prevails. Thanks for your thoughtful comment !
Thank you for opening our eyes to the so many levels of change. I hope that we people get together as humans and despite all the advancements in tech decide what we want to keep the way it is.
In my opinion the eye of a cameraman can’t be replaced by AI-or at least that is what we should decide.
Art by humans made for humans. (And so many more things)

this sounds like a Black Mirror episode waiting to happen, just saying
I measure time by Black Mirror, we are in about Season 4
So now even cheekbones have competition? Rough times 😅 Loved the honesty here, Sinead.
Is this the AI version?
Funnily, I nearly signed with LA Talent in 2019.

https://www.afm.org - You can join the musician’s union here.
They’re literally trying to replace everyone with servant bots except for their little exclusive cadre of billionaires.
When you first predicted this shift it seemed so far away. Wild that we’re starting to see this happen already!!
Ya when I first published the article people were like.. ok. Lol
I think you can transform the AI trend as a business. Your image should be licensed.
True, free or inexpensive models will make it tough. But people always value more what is authentic, unique, and artistic.
Additionally, an AI model can’t go on live fashion shows, try real clothes, inspire others, etc.
The photographers survived the digital cameras, and Photoshop. Many of them are thriving and there is more market for them than before.

It has been going on for years already, and indistinguishable to most people.
I would be very surprised if H&M are just recently dipping their toes in the water on this. It’s widespread.
Change is tough… but talking about these things is essential.
Maybe it is time to get people together and push back. Maybe get models together to re-imagine the future of this industry?
AI doesn’t have a story, emotions, struggles, aspirations. And even if AI gets all of that… AI will not be Human.
